Guys. It’s like we share a life. haha. I’ve been in all of these situations in one form or another and it’s pretty cool(?) to see that we can all relate over the shitty stuff. From ALL CAPS to legal action to LEGAL ACTION IN ALL CAPS, I think we all have our own special something that drives us up the wall.
Is this really cathartic for anyone else?

Ha, I’m glad you were watching @Chase. I was doing the same and I agree with you completely. There’s a difference between being a person, being a brand, and being a person speaking on behalf your brand through your personal account. Man. This just got complicated

Ha, tacky is a fun way to put it. I agree with you both about asking about things…[Read more]

I recently discovered a company that I believe to be, frankly, eff’ed up. In fact, I found Leftover Swap, an app that lets you give food to neighbors and the poor, to be so insulting that I tweeted at them to let them know. (Full disclosure: I own a nonprofit on the side.) Here’s the exchange:
My views are basically there, but I was so shocked…[Read more]

I’m in a tough spot in these situations since I’ve been blogging with very strong feelings for a long time. Actually, those ruthlessly honest posts are what got me out to San Francisco in the first place. While I’m generally a fan of not censoring yourself, I think that posting something about your company so explicitly breaks an understanding…[Read more]

Woah! Super out of character for Microsoft to apologize. I love seeing them say sorry for what they’ve done, but at the same time, where was there a month ago?
Regardless, […]

They tried to push too fast into a “digital only” frontier and integration with the cloud. They thought they were being really progressive and helping gamers, but did a horrible job communicating why the […]

Never forget that you’re the voice of the customer to your company and that makes you very important.
I think that sometimes we get caught up in solving problems and creating fun campaigns instead of […]

Oh man. Definitely. Evan know about this one, but I’ll fill you guys in: I’m the person behind our Twitter account (usually). This means dealing with upset customers, but honestly not as often as I anticipated. […]

I’m SHOCKED that Microsoft reversed like this. With all the power given to people on the internet nowadays I’m wondering what that means for community managers. Makes me consider when we give into the vocal […]

Yeah, that’s exactly my point here @Chase. It seems more like they’re running away, ignoring complaints, and making it harder to get the feedback that would ultimately improve their product. I also agree with you <a href='http://community.uservoice.com/members/danielslater/' […]

Charter Cable recently made news for their decision to stop using Twitter for support citing negative comments and an (arguably) already successful support program from their website. It got me thinking - is it […]
