What kind of music do you guys listen to when working with customers, if you do at all? Do you listen to music that amps you up and helps you truck through ticket after ticket? Something slow and melodic that keeps you calm and tunes out the world? Maybe you think music is distracting all together? When working through complicated customer issues, I totally agree!

When the support volume is really high and requires a lot of focus and multitasking I will listen to a lot of high energy repetitive beats. When I haven’t quite hit my groove for the day though, and I can’t quite get into a flow I’ll listen to something that inspires me such as Gary Clark Jr.’s song You Saved Me (live of course): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukTUVthCSQg The energy and passion he puts into playing his guitar, especially starting at 3:15, reminds me to find my own passion and desire to create an incredible support experience.

When grinding through the ticket queue I need something new. (I can’t be absentmindedly writing lyrics in the middle of an explanation about updating a browser.)

I’ve been working through this playlist recently <http://brooklynradio.com/history-of-hip-hop/>. Solid beats to work to. Possibly NSFW depending on your office environment.

Max - I have absolutely typed out lyrics in a reply before. Thankfully I’ve caught it each time.
And our Raleigh office all has different preferences on music except for our developer, Joey and myself. When we show up before everyone else we make good use of our massive speakers and subwoofer via AirPlay. ;)

Great heads up on the jams btw! Big fan

Because outside of Adzerk I am also a musician, I am hard-wired to listen to music very carefully. Which means when writing lots of correspondence I simply cannot listen to music with lyrics. It’s weird - as a musician I really want to experience music that is dynamic, thrilling, emotional. But at work I need something really steady/algorithmic. EDM/downtempo seems to fit that bill. I don’t really care what it is - internet radio stations do the trick. That said, I really did this album. Israeli jazz guys on all acoustic instruments….playing something that sounds like minimal techno. https://play.spotify.com/artist/6ZEO5Ygd5FwXAcPNWuSu4F?

Oh man I love listening to EDM too! The fast BPM and the positive vibes (depending on the DJ itself) just keep me going!
